Some infos about the Golf of Santa Ponsa

Golf Santa Ponsa I is a 6,543 m, par 72 course which was inaugurated in January 1977. The 10th hole is one of the longest in Europe.

Designed by Folco Nardi with assistance from Pepe Gancedo, Golf Santa Ponsa I covers an area of 73 hectares. It is a long, wide course with many indigenous trees and vegetation, water hazards and bunkers. Santa Ponsa I is one of Mallorca's busiest courses, because many national and international tournaments take place here:

  • The H.R.H. El Conde de Barcelona International Challenge (from 1977 to 1992)

  • Golf Santa Ponsa has hosted the Balearic Islands Golf Open (Professional European Circuit) more often than anywhere else. The PGA chose to set it six times on course I and once on course II. The winners were: Severiano Ballesteros (twice), Ove Sellberg, Gavin Levinson, Jim Payne, Greg J. Turner and Miguel Angel Jiménez. These events attracted other important players such as José Maria Olazábal, Barry Lane, Jesper Parnevik, Colin Montgomerie, Ian Woosnam, Lee Westwood, Vijay Singh, etc .

    

Many VIPs have visited the Golf Club, including Their Majesties the King and Queen of Spain, H.R.H. Prince Felipe, H.R.H. D. Juan de Borbón, Prince Andrew of England, the King and Queen of Sweden, the Grand Duke and Grand Duchess of Luxembourg, President Carter, Bruno Kreisky, Michael Douglas, Catherine Zeta Jones, Nigel Mansell, Franz Beckenbauer, Ingemar Johanson and others.

 

Golf Santa Ponsa II · Characteristics

Inaugurated in December 1991, Golf Santa Ponsa II is a 6,053 m, par 72 course.

Many of the holes are situated in a small pine forest or among large lakes, offering players a variety of game options.

The 18th hole is especially interesting, being located on an island in the shape of the island of Mallorca.

    

Santa Ponsa II also offers opportunities to learn golf on a training course 350 m long, with tees in both directions of more than 100 m, a putting green and a golf school.

Santa Ponsa II is reserved for the shareholders of the society. Each year important tournaments take place here, including the 1995 Balearic Open.

Because of the special design of the golf courses, Complexes like "Ses Penyes Rotges" can offer country houses, villas, apartments and extensive grounds for those who love to play golf ‘without leaving home’.

 

Golf Santa Ponsa III · Characteristics

This 9-hole course was inaugurated in January 1999. It has a length of 1,599 m for men and 1,332 m for ladies, both par 30, with three par 4 holes and six par 3s.

It is an ideal course for beginners and players who love a short, precise game.
